ROM Review - Future Pinball - Mad Mag
Mad? Mad is right. WTF? The creator is mad (insane) for thinking this table was finished (v1.11?). I'm mad (pissed) that I wasted my time with it while disgraced one of my all time favorite reading materials growing up.
The table just isn't fun. Barely anything ever happens.
The sound quality of the effects are terrible and have constant crackling. If you happen to take a gander at the screen shot above, you will notice that it contains an image of Alfred E. Neuman holding a 33 speed record (while apparently crooning), Alfred playing a fiddle, Alfred playing electric guitar, the word DISCO, and another record by good ol' Al (45 speed). You might think that means that this game has some mad, mad, mad, mad, and (dare i say it?) wacky music. You'd be wrong. While your playing the game with almost nothing happening, you get to sit in almost complete silence! Sweet!
The artwork isn't put together horribly, but that makes no sense either. It seems like a throw back to some flowery 60's crap table, but for some reason it's got Max Headroom mucking about and that pesky 70's disco thing going for it. And what's up with the bullet holes just floating in mid air? Has this table created rips in the fabric of time and space? Are they supposed to represent holes in the lenses of my eyes from shooting myself in the face multiple times from the frustration of playing this game?
Yeah, it's Mad. It's supposed to be silly. It's supposed to be stupid. This is all of those things with a whole lotta fail thrown on top. Ok, maybe I exaggerated a little bit. Still, skip it.

Damn, I didn't think anyone would bitch so much over a free pinball table. If you don't hear lots of sounds, then you don't have the game setup properly. There are 2 full versions of "It's a Gas" and "It's A Gas Disco" included, plus tons of whacky sound effects included.
